Taking a minute (or a week or two)

As many know, this past week has been a very difficult one for our family. At 10 and a half weeks pregnant we learned that our second baby had gone to be with Jesus. In the midst of the most painful time Tim and I have ever endured, God has given us incredible peace that truly passes all understanding.

I am going to take a couple of weeks to be still (Psalm 46:10) and allow God to continue to work His perfect healing in my life and heart. He has already given me so much to minister to my soul, and I hope to pass on much of that very soon in the hope that it will minister to you and change you the way it is changing me. (If you have not already, please begin to share this blog with others.)

We serve an awesome God who is able to do above and beyond all we could ever think to ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). In the midst of life's problems He is so good, and Him peace, power and love are perfect!

More to come...

Awesome Day

Today is an awesome day in Northern VA. It is 68 and sunny….in February!!! God is so good and His blessings come in so many forms. I used to pray almost every morning, “God, please give me a good day.” Then one day God brought this verse to mind:
This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:4 (NKJV)
Then He said, “Everyday that I make is good. I give you a good day every day. You never have to ask for it. It’s a given!” You see, David didn’t wait to see what the day would bring. He made a decision to enjoy it based on the simple fact that God made it, and that was enough to make it good.
So now I pray that God will give me the wisdom to enjoy each day He gives me and make the most out of it. Sometimes I do better than others, but I realize now, if I don’t have a “good” day, I have no one to blame but myself! And then I have to spend some time with God figuring out how to adjust my attitude and perspective. God wants you to enjoy every day of your life!
The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in
abundance (to the full, till it overflows). John 10:10 (Amplified Bible)

So put a smile on your face and go about doing good. (Acts 10:38) You’ll be amazed how focusing on serving and loving others will affect the feel of your entire day!

Get up!

So I’ve been pretty sick lately. As a result I have been sleeping in more and not getting as high quality of God-time as usual. I know that God understands that we are human and that we need times of rest. But there does come a time when we have to get back on track.
In this time of being sick and not as focused, I have found that I’ve weakened spiritually and mentally as well. So a couple of days I ago God led me to this verse, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10) So I have been praying, “Lord, restore a right spirit within me.” Well, this morning I am lying awake in bed (God does this when He wants to spend time with me. No matter how exhausted I think I am, He won’t let me sleep.), and I’m telling God that I’ve been sick and I really need a little more rest. So I decide I can spend some time with God while I’m lying there trying to go back to sleep (knowing full well that He’s not going to let me…we’ve been through this many times before), and I offer up my little prayer, “Lord, restore a right spirit within me.” And God says, “Well, get your rear out of bed!” God was telling me that restoration, transformation and growth come from spending time with Him and in His Word. His Word is power and when it gets in us it will do mighty works, but God was not going to magically fix me. I had to get out of bed and get into His Word, and then He would begin to do a mighty work in my life.
So I ask you, have you been seeing the power and sensing the presence of God in your everyday life lately? Or do you need to, as my mother would say, get your rear in gear? J
